Mt. Kasagatake, one of the Hida Mountains in the Japanese Northern Alps, is located
in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
The mountain stands 2,898 meters high, and is so named because its shape is similar
to a wide cone-shaped bamboo hat, called a kasa in Japanese. Mt. Kasagatake has been
selected as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, together with Mt. Yarigatake
and Mt. Hodakadake from the Japanese Northern Alps. |

Climbing route
The "Kasa-shindo," or New Kasa Route, that begins at the Shinhodaka-onsen (New Hodaka Hot Spring), is the main climbing route.
You can enjoy beautiful alpine plants along the climbing route up to the mountain's summit.
